At GDIT, people are our differentiator. As a Network Engineer Senior you will provide support for IPv4-to-IPv6 migrations, network related issues and remediation, testing, configuration changes, migration of Azure NSG rules to Palo Alto HUB Firewalls.
This is a remote position. However, candidates must be able to travel to customer location Maryland to obtain badging prior to starting. How a Network Engineer will make an impact: - Ensures that the customer's network operates smoothly, supporting essential business requirements.
- Effectively work as a team with application owners and the customer to successfully translate business requirements into network/system requirements.
- Administer, monitor, upgrade and maintain relevant networking equipment.
- Identify, analyzes and resolves network issues as they arise.
- Develop and execute test cases to ensure customer requirements are met.
- Provide technical support to help remediate network issues and mitigation of security vulnerabilities.
- Able to provide technical networking support during business and non-business hours, as required.
- Demonstrates strong technical skills and analytic abilities.
- Demonstrates experience performing complex technical tasks with minimal direction.
- Effectively communicates with the team, customer and application owners.
- Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology.
- Develop, maintain and adheres to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and networking best practices.
- Provide knowledge transfer of relevant technology to team members, customer and program successors.
Required Skills: - At least 3 years of related experience in Networking
- At least 1 year of experience actively working with IPv6 in a production capacity
- Hands-on experience working with Palo Alto HUB Firewalls, Cisco routers and switches.
- Thorough understanding of local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), network routing, VLANs and both IPv4 and IPv6 protocol.
- Basic understanding of Azure and/or AWS networking, network security groups (NSG), and virtual private cloud (VPC).
- Ability to translate customer business requirements into network/system requirements.
- Must be able to obtain a Public Trust and sucessfully pass a thorough government background screening process (forms/fingerprinting).
Desired Skills: - Bachelors Degree strong preferred
- Possess, or will possess in near future, a CCNA, Cloud (AWS or Azure), Palo Alto or CompTIA+ Certification.
- Experience with business tools: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, SharePoint, ServiceNow and MS Teams
- Experience with development tools: Trello, JIRA, Git, Confluence
- Experience with Agile methodologies: SCRUM and/or KanBan
- Experience working in any HHS agencies or entities

The likely salary range for this position is $123,250 - $166,750. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
