Job Description

The Patient Advocate acts as liaison between Radiologist and mammography patients. Providing information to the patients on future appointments, pathology explanations, building accessions for screens and genetic profile if needed.

• Assist Radiologist by scheduling biopsies and creating sessions for diagnostic screens
• Act as liaison for Radiologist and referring physicians in coordinating additional work-up for patients such as biopsy, surgical consultation/referral, MRI, etc.
• Collect and record biopsy pathology
• Assist in diagnostic programs such as Genetic Testing for diagnostic mammography patients by scheduling diagnostic exams, collecting specimen, submitting specimen, maintaining proper documentation, and collaborating with key stakeholders such as the program partner, referring physicians and diagnostic patients
• Assist diagnostic technologists by bringing patients to dressing room and delivering proper dressing instructions depending upon the exam and positioning/holding patients for exams as needed
• Other duties as assigned

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Breast Navigator Certificate required (CN-BA, CN-BI, CN-BM, CN-BC, CN-BP or CN-BN)
• College degree such as Associates or Bachelors preferred

Prior Experience:

• Minimum 2 years in a health care setting

Special Qualifications: 

• Working knowledge of the health care system, including understanding of medical terminology
• Experience working with Microsoft Office programs such as Word and Excel
