About the job:
Kent is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to be based in Houston, TX.

You will be part of our Kent Houston Offshore Engineering Team involved in the detailed design of process and utility systems for new offshore fixed platform and floating facility projects, and working on designing upgrades and solving challenging problems for our clients' existing facilities.

There is a possibility of up to 10% international travel.

Skills and Responsibilities:
  • Support the technical development and review of discipline-specific deliverables, including:
    • Specifications & Datasheets.
    • Calculations (Fluids, Stress Analysis etc).
    • Material selection reports.
    • Scope of work documents.
    • Procurement and installation contracts.
    • Review the related engineering deliverables against specifications and regulatory requirements.
    • Attend vendor performance and acceptance tests.
    • Develop operations and maintenance procedures.
    • Address technical queries and prepare technical deviations.
  • Support and perform investigative studies and engineering scopes.
  • May work directly with client operating company personnel.
  • Uphold professional ethics and standards of conduct.
  • Work involves directing research and solving unprecedented technical problems of considerable scope and complexity, the solution of which may have a far-reaching impact on extensive technical activities of the firm.

In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development.



Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience: Knowledge/ Qualification/ Training/ Certification:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • This level may be achieved by technical professionals with a minimum of 4+ years of Oil & Gas Offshore experience since Bachelor's degree.
  • Professional certification/registration is preferred.
  • Offshore Oil & Gas major project experience or Oil & Gas facilities (operations) experience is preferred.
  • Experience with static and rotating equipment.




Communication:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
Behavior/ Core Competencies:
  • Strong persuasive ability, technical writing and communications skills are required at this level, proven through such technical presentations, technical papers and/or participation in technical committees that will demonstrate an advanced state-of-the-art technical expertise.
