Your Impact:

Exciting start-up opportunity for an individual that is passionate about competitive swimming.  The part-time Head Swim Coach will build the program from its infancy at multiple branches in the city of Philadelphia (Columbia North, Christian St., and West Philadelphia YMCA) and manage the swim team in accordance with the rules and regulations set forth by the YMCA of the USA as well as the rules from their respective swimming leagues. The Head Swim Coach is responsible for preparing practice workout plans and swim meet line-ups. Head Coaches are to ensure a positive, healthy, and valuable experience for all participants.  

Compensation:

• $20 - $22 per hour

What Qualifications You’ll Need: 

• 18 years old with a High School Degree or equivalent. 
• 2 years of directly related experience in developing and conducting programs.  
• Ability to work a non-traditional schedule including nights and weekends.  
• Ability to travel between multiple branches in the city of Philadelphia.
• Understanding of computer software used for running meets and swimmer lineups. 

What You’ll Do: 

• Evaluate swimmers’ skills and lead them through skill mastery and swim practices.  
• Recruit, train, and supervise the competitive swim staff and conduct monthly staff  
• meetings.  
• Provide support and encouragement to participants and ensure fair practice and swim meet experience. 
• Ensure you are the first one to arrive and the last one to leave at practices and meets. Swimmers are not to be left unsupervised during practice or at any swim meet.  
• The coach is responsible for setting up home meets and working with the parents’ committee in securing volunteers to run the swim meets.
