About the Role

The EHS (Environmental, Health and Safety) Manager provides environmental, safety, and health support to production and corporate personnel. The EHS Manager assists in maintaining environmental, safety, and health programs and objectives and coordinates safety training programs. In addition, they will monitor environmental, safety, and health regulations and provide technical support to plant and administrative staff to ensure compliance with federal and state guidelines. The EHS Manager develops, implements and maintains ISO14001/45001 facility certification.

What You Will Do

  • Lead and manage the EHS team across all production, logistics, and facility areas.
  • Provide expert technical guidance on environmental, health, and safety (EHS) matters to production and corporate teams.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive EHS programs, policies, and training initiatives.
  • Establish and monitor annual EHS key performance indicators (KPIs) for the site.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations, including waste management, air quality, and hazardous materials.
  • Collaborate with engineering to design and implement controls that mitigate occupational health and safety risks.
  • Oversee the selection and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) for plant personnel.
  • Conduct safety evaluations of new equipment installations and processes to ensure operational safety.
  • Audit manufacturing operations to verify compliance with company EHS standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Serve as a key member of the EHS steering committee, advising on policy and strategic initiatives.
  • Manage injury prevention programs and coordinate with workers' compensation teams for efficient case resolution.
  • Support the site’s Emergency Response Teams, ensuring proper protocols and readiness for hazardous material incidents.

What You Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in a safety science, engineering or industrial engineering discipline
  • A minimum of five years of experience supporting safety, health and environmental operations in a manufacturing/production environment
  • CSP/CIH/CHMM certification preferred.
  • HAZWOPER 24 hour certified.
  • First Aid/CPR/AED certified; Trainer certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of chemical manufacturing operations a plus.
  • Extensive knowledge of State and Federal safety standards. A working knowledge of ergonomic standards and evaluation tools; working knowledge of the company manufacturing processes.
  • Understands and is experienced in SC workers compensation statutes and case law; understands and is experienced in SC claims and case management is a plus.
  • Able to work cross-functionally and communicate clearly with staff in Operations, Maintenance, Production, Engineering, Quality, Human Resources and Research and Development.
  • Understands and follows all standards of IATF16949 and VDA 6.3 quality standards. (Training and awareness will be provided for those who are not familiar with these standards)
  • Understands and follows all standards of ISO12001 environmental standards. (Training and awareness will be provided for those who are not familiar with these standards)

Work Environment

The work environment is primarily an automated manufacturing plant with a concrete floor and is characterized by some temperature extremes, moderate noise, and forklift traffic. The individual must be able to perform all essential functions as appropriate on the plant floor, in meetings, and with employees, management, customers and suppliers.
