Do you want to help make a difference in the lives of the public? The DOJ is currently looking for a highly motivated and talented individual to join our Division of Legal Services as a Data Analyst (Auditor-Senior) in the Medicaid Fraud Control and Elder Abuse Unit.
This position is headquartered at the Risser Justice Center located at 17 West Main Street in Madison.

Position Summary

Under general supervision of the Deputy Unit Director, the Data Analyst position performs data processing functions coupled with sophisticated data analysis to identify anomalies indicative of fraud. The Data Analyst performs complex data extraction and analysis, at an advanced level, to assist in the investigation and prosecution of healthcare fraud committed against the Medicaid program, and the investigation of financial exploitation of vulnerable adults. The Data Analyst is primarily responsible for timely and accurately extracting, collecting, identifying, analyzing, and interpreting trends or patterns in complex Medicaid claims data, with the goal of identifying patterns or trends that suggest fraudulent activity, supporting, refuting or defining the allegations of fraud, highlighting useful information, suggesting conclusions, as well as supporting decision-making relative to criminal and civil fraud investigations. The Data Analyst also collects, identifies, analyzes and interprets financial, demographic, legal, social and other data sets, obtained from various sources.
Salary Information

The Auditor-Senior position is in pay schedule 07 and pay range 03. The starting pay will be between $35.00 - $40.00/hour (approx. $72,800 - $83,200 annually). Pay for current or former state employees will follow the provisions found in the State of Wisconsin Compensation Plan. A 12-month probationary period may be required.
Job Details

This position may be eligible to work remotely up to 60% as part of a hybrid schedule, following an initial training period. Travel to the headquarters is not eligible for travel reimbursement.
High speed internet access is required to meet the needs of remote work.
The Department of Justice does not sponsor work visas at the time of hire or anytime during employment. All persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and complete the required Employment Eligibility Form I-9.

Qualifications

Minimally qualified applicants must have education, training and/or experience in the following : Proficiency using advanced Microsoft Excel, Access, or Power BI functions (such as pivot tables, macros, advanced sorts, etc). Working with financial or medical records and/or claims to check for accuracy and/or fraud. Drafting reports of findings. Experience applying statutory law and administrative code.
In addition to the minimum qualifications, a well-qualified applicant will have education, training, and/or experience in the following: Working in a legal or law enforcement environment, which may include preparing materials for use in a trial setting or participating in court proceedings. Writing SQL or other queries to create reports from databases. Working with Medicaid rules or regulations or other healthcare fraud case types
