Department Introduction:
The LBRE IT team supports the technology needs of all LBRE business units. Principle service areas include application development implementation and support; server and network infrastructure administration; hardware and software support; facilities information management; geographic information systems; Computer Aided Drafting (CAD); and civil surveying and utility locating.

Job Purpose*:
Technology has evolved over the last century, particularly in the last 10 years. We are looking for someone who has the skills and ability to successfully translate existing and emerging technologies to those who are non-technical. The Infrastructure and Security team at LBRE is seeking an energetic and passionate individual to fill a Customer Success IoT Intern position.

*This role will be on a fixed term, 12-month timing based on the start date.

Core Duties*:

  • You will be supporting the LBRE IT Infrastructure & Security team
  • You will engage business partners with quarterly security check-ins for their IoT devices
  • You will be exposed to monitoring and security tools and assist LBRE IT with triaging IoT device notifications
  • You will learn about IoT and system related vulnerabilities and provide device owners processes for remediation
  • You will work alongside IT Systems Analyst with IoT related projects including gathering network requirements and performing security assessments
  • You will perform weekly on-site visits to collaborate with our business partners which includes triaging IoT device issues and documenting essential information
  • You will learn to apply security best practices to safeguard our IT infrastructure
  • You will document and share what you've learned in our wiki and present a summary of your year to LBRE IT management
  • You will work with the LBRE IT team to develop scripts and code to support IoT and BMS infrastructure
  • You will have the opportunity to learn about ICS security through collaboration with our CEF partners and LBRE IT
  • *Other duties may also be assigned

Education & Experience:

  • Experience with various operating systems and computing devices.
  • Exposure to both Windows and Unix/Linux systems
  • Preference with current student or recent graduate from a four-year college with major coursework in computer science, management information systems or closely related field of study.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to apply information technology best practices, including security controls (both physical and information security), for asset management and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new operating systems.
  • Interest in the intersection of IT and commercial or consumer hardware (IoT, BMS, ICS)
  • Some background in basic IT security principles and best practices.
  • Organized, with an ability for time management with the ability to prioritize tasks and projects
  • Energetic, Creative, Curious and Flexible.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Creating and maintaining documentation in collaborative web-based technology: Confluence, Google Docs, SharePoint, Google Sheets, etc.

  • Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks.
  • Frequently sit, grasp lightly/fine manipulation.
  • Occasionally stand/walk, use a telephone.
  • Rarely writing by hand, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.

The expected pay range for this position is $75,000 to $82,000 per annum. This role will be on a fixed term, 12-month timing based on the start date.
