Position Highlights

The Division of Dermatology in the Department of Medicine is seeking applicants for a Clinical Research Coordinator II to support the establishment and daily operations of a Dermatology clinical trial unit under the oversight of Dr. Daniel C. Butler. This position explores and discovers answers to challenging questions through maintaining, documenting, and managing clinical trials. The Clinical Research Coordinator II provides for the safety of patients involved in clinical trials ensuring protocol adherence. The person in this position develops, facilitates, implements, evaluates, performs, administers, and oversees a wide variety of research initiatives within the division with new focus on immunological directed clinical studies.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Administer and participate in the support of dermatology clinical trials, contracts, protocols and treatment plans.
  • With Dr. Butler's oversight, prepare, coordinate, and maintain regulatory study documentation including IRB submission and approval of new or revised protocols, safety reports and progress reports.
  • Keep appropriate logs, track participants, prepare study materials.
  • Recruit and enroll study participants, interview and evaluate potential participants, obtain consents and explain research protocols to study participants.
  • Coordinate and conduct study appointments and procedures, including obtain medical history and vitals, collection of specimens, administering medication; assess and monitor patient's health.
  • Conduct adverse event assessment and provide recommendation to PI.
  • Ensure proper collection, processing and handling of specimens - package and ship to sponsor.
  • Develop and provide education materials and training to patients, family members, and clinical staff to assure patient safety and adherence to protocols.
  • Develop source documents, study specific training.
  • Coordinate and attend sponsor monitor visits.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively with different groups/individuals.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of human subjects protection program requirements and regulations.
  • Excellent record keeping and data entry skills.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through experience.
  • Three (3) years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy .
