BOILER OPERATOR

Overnight Shift, Sign-On Bonus Up to $4K

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond efficiently and effectively to urgent production needs related to equipment.
  • Read and interpret diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturer specifications to disassemble, repair, replace, rebuild, and install mechanical equipment.
  • Demonstrate basic knowledge of belts, sheaves, chains, sprockets, bearings, lubrication standards, and applications.
  • Understand fasteners, thread types, and proper applications.
  • Utilize Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) to support maintenance functions, including reviewing, executing, and documenting scheduled and unscheduled work daily.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical power transmission equipment, including gearboxes, mechanical drives, variable speed applications, and motors.
  • Exhibit a basic understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including cylinders, valves, manifolds, vacuum systems, air filtration, and lubrication devices.
  • Perform pipe fitting, insulating, rigging applications, and use various mechanical, hand, and power tools.
  • Maintain plant utility systems, including ammonia refrigeration systems, compressed air, boiler, and HVAC systems.
  • Ensure adherence to all safety policies and procedures, fostering a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Communicate major problems and daily activities to the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Keep accurate records of equipment maintenance and required tasks.
  • Follow Quality work practices and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), maintaining sanitary conditions and ensuring product quality.
  • Comply with all Food Safety and Quality policies, procedures, and activities to reduce process variability.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: 

  • A one-year certificate from a college or technical school or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • A minimum of three years of industrial maintenance experience in a food processing plant.
  • Experience in electrical, welding, and pneumatics is helpful.
  • A Special Boiler license is required (2nd Class B preferred) or the ability to obtain it once experience requirements are met.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals in English.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence and communicate effectively with groups, customers, vendors, and employees.
  • Proficient in basic math, including adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing, and computing rates, ratios, and percentages.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Experience with interpreting technical instructions in various formats and handling abstract and concrete variables.
  • Leadership skills and the ability to delegate and follow up on necessary workloads.
  • Strong electrical troubleshooting experience is preferred.
  • Ammonia refrigeration experience is a plus.
