Job Description

The Baton Rouge Area Chamber (BRAC) Art Director delivers compelling, high-impact visual experiences for the organization and ensures brand consistency across all internal and external channels. This role includes art direction and design work.

Responsibilities

Art Direction and Graphic Design – 40%

  • Lead the artistic development of original designs, marketing and promotional pieces including print, digital, and television advertisements; collateral materials; and internal and external publications
  • Review graphic materials to assess their validity and appropriateness for the brand
  • Utilize technical skills and an understanding of shot composition to take photos at events
  • Edit photography as needed to convey the essence of BRAC’s brand across both print and online platforms
  • Develop and maintain an understanding of economic development and investor businesses to apply to creative concepts and material

Brand Management – 30%

  • Work with the Marketing team and agency partners to develop and improve BRAC’s overall brand to ensure its strength, consistency, and presence
  • Provide brand stewardship and guidance to all departments at BRAC
  • Monitor all outbound visual communications to ensure they meet BRAC brand standards
  • Ensure consistency in design across all the online and offline marketing channels
  • Collaborate with various departments and BRAC partners to obtain knowledge of the requirements and needs of all marketing collateral
  • Maintain an understanding of advertising, digital, and media industry trends
  • Oversee the creative work of contractors, interns, and designers as well as the production timelines and outputs of vendors
  • Lead brainstorming/creative sessions to generate innovative ideas that support BRAC departments and keep all branded collateral up to date
  • Thoroughly vet all marketing assets to ensure brand consistency across various platforms and BRAC divisions
  • Review creative content and presentations, providing revisions and feedback when necessary

Project Management – 20%

  • Manage various creative projects and oversee them to completion
  • Develop methods/procedures to streamline various creative processes and continue to identify areas for improvement to make both the Marketing team and BRAC more effective moving forward
  • Monitor results of team efforts/collateral and collaborate with team members to propose actions that will help facilitate BRAC’s future success
  • Manage project timelines, deliverables, and budgets

Other Duties – 10%

  • Support department activities as needed (e.g. staffing events)
  • Manage content and assets, in conjunction with other marketing team members

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Design, Marketing, Communications, or a relevant discipline
  • Demonstrated experience in brand management and art direction
  • Considerable knowledge of general marketing, social media, collateral development, website management, and communications techniques is key
  • Strong technical understanding of print and digital design requirements
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (including PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook), web-based software, Mac Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), and web-based project management systems (such as Basecamp)
  • Excellent time management skills to handle multiple deadlines and projects
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to lift 30-40 lbs.
