The Theology and Religious Studies Department and the Humanities Division at Bellarmine University invites applications for a part-time instructor position for a course entitled Moral Issues in Healthcare, for the second half of the fall semester (10/16/2024-12/8/2024). This course is for students who have completed an undergraduate degree and are returning to complete a one-year accelerated degree in Nursing. The course meets Tuesdays and Thursdays, 2:40-5:10pm. Classes are scheduled to meet in person.
Course description: An exploration of moral questions raised by scientific and technological development in the health care field. Christian ethics will be studied and applied to specific issues and cases. Topics addressed include: patient's rights, euthanasia, abortion, new birth technologies, genetic developments, just allocation of scarce resources, health care delivery, etc.
Applicants must have at least 2 years experience teaching Theology, Religious Studies, or Christian ethics at the college level and must hold an M.A. or Ph.D. degree in Theology or Religious Studies or a related field.
